Central Florida Chess Club (CFCC) was founded in 1987 as a non-profit organization with the mission of combining the original Orlando Chess Club and the Winter Park Chess Club together to better support and promote chess in the Central Florida area.
In addition to weekend chess tournaments, the club experimented with weekly chess club meetings in the past until its meeting location in Winter Park, Florida was damaged by Hurricane Charley in 2004. Since then, the club’s elected all-volunteer Board of Director’s shifted its focus solely to organizing and hosting USCF-rated tournaments in the Central Florida area.
With over three decades as an official USCF affiliate, the club has organized and hosted over 400 USCF-rated chess tournaments to date in support of competitive chess players of all ages and skill levels, including crowning 34 Club Championship winners.
